was born in Siegen.

After the Abitur he studied church music at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts (Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main, HfMDK) and filed there in 1989 the A exam.


Then a postgraduate study followed in the field Organ at the Cologne University of Music with Peter Neumann where he passed in 1992 the artistic school leaving exam with honouring.

After a continuing one-year-old study in the Orgelmeisterklasse of Mrs. Prof. Dorthy de Rooij in the Conservatorium Maastricht he finished in 1993 the concert exam.

His wide-tense repertoire encloses beside the organ complete works of Johann Sebastian Bach and Dietrich Buxtehude all important compositions of the so-called North German organ music (Tunder, Bruhns, Lübeck) as well as decisive organ works of the romanticism – among other things the big Choralfantasies and free works Max Regers (Fantasy and Fugue on B-A-C-H, sonatas, F sharp minor variations, Symphonic Fantasie and Fugue), the organ sonatas by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy as well as compositions by Liszt, Widor, Reubke – and the French modern age (M. Dupré, J. Alain, O. Messiaen). Already at study times Andreas Köhs has helped in different productions of hr (Hessian broadcasting Company) and the WDR (West German Radio).

Andreas Köhs is the choirmaster and organist the in the Community Union of the Three Kings Church (Ev.-luth. Dreikönigskirche) in Frankfurt am Main. In this function he continues by Prof. Helmut Walcha and Prof. Kurt Thomas founded and after the borders of the city of Frankfurt am Main much notable musical tradition successfully. If his activity belongs to it as a concerted organist just as the artistic management of the Kantorei Sachsenhausen, the Kurt Thomas-chamber choir and collegiums vocale francfurt as well as the Telemann-ensemble Frankfurt.

Since his foundation in 1994 Andreas Köhs is church-musical advisers and since 2003 chairpersons is in the association to promote church music in the community union of the Three Kings Church (Ev.-luth. Dreikönigskirche) of Frankfurt am Main - Sachsenhausen „Church music 3 king inc.“

Andreas Köhs was appointed by the abbess of the Benedictine's abbey cloister of Engelthal to the "Titularorganist" there. Together with the Schwesternschola he has recorded a CD with J. S. Bach Orgelbüchlein (Little Organ Book) in the abbey church.

Moreover, since 1997 Andreas Köhs acts as an author for the "Bärenreiter-Verlag" of Kassel, since 2014 for the "Pfefferkorn Musikverlag" of Leipzig and since 2016 for the Music publisher "Breitkopf & Härtel" of Wiesbaden.
